We're excited to announce a new partnership with Greensgrow Farms, Drexel University, the People's Emergency Center, and the Philadelphia Health Department to bring a local grocery store to Lancaster Avenue! Starting in April of 2012, Preston's Paradise will have fresh produce, plus dairy and protein items as well as dry goods available 5 days a week to our neighborhood. This project is an evolution of our fresh food farmstands that have operated with community partners in Belmont and Mantua since 2006. The feeback we've received from our neighbors has been that temporary produce-only markets do not serve their needs. If we want to build true local food economy, we need to have full diet options and regular availability.
The West Philadelphia Fresh Food Hub have the freshest and highest quality food that you've come to expect from us, at the same affordable prices and available all week long. We'll also be able to carry full diet options like milk, bread, and eggs, plus healthy snack options and fresh fruit. Plus, the Fresh Food Hub will coordinate services from Preston's Paradise, the Health Department, PEC, and other partners to better serve our community. We'll still do our free delivery to seniors and have our mobile Farmstand set up at block parties and the Free Library several times each season, but keep an eye out for this exciting new community grocery outlet opening soon.
We'd love your feedback on what to stock on the shelves, so send us an email or call to share your thoughts.
